Yoga

This art comes from India and is used to maintain spiritual balance and physical health. As a general guide, when performing yoga the body is elongated on the inhale (tension) and relaxes into the stretch on exhale.  Some people believe that Yoga itself was a martial art at one time and that it was responsible for the martial arts emanating from the Shaolin Monastery (See article below).

Sun Salutation

This is a moving yoga series and is a very good warm-up exercise.

Extended Lunge

This pose really gets the psoas muscle and is also good for the hamstrings.

       

Pigeon Pose

This is a very good glut and thigh stretch.  It also opens up the spine.
