We are a light-contact, traditional style Taekwondo school. Kim's Taekwondo is one of the largest of it's kind in the Northwest, headed by Grandmaster Hong Sik Kim, with branch schools in several states. All rank is awarded through Grandmaster Kim.

Via Potentia offers training in carefully researched physical conditioning, practical self defense, First Aid, CPR, and conventional weapons.
About half of class time is spent on conditioning, the other half on technical training. Technical training includes combination development and application, forms, upright sparring (contact and no-contact), take downs, grappling and stick work.
Our focus is on self defense application against a larger, stronger or armed attacker. We do whatever we can to be aware of and avoid the danger. If we choose to fight, the goal is to cause an injury as quickly as possible so that we can escape.

Wu Ying Tao, "The Formless Way" emphasizes principles over technique. Students learn to adapt and apply distancing, timing, directions of force, and breaking down their opponents' readiness and timing to control a self-defense situation.
