Greetings!
I don't know about you, but I'm still getting "Happy New Years"
around town. Let's face it, once the first resolutions have fallen
by the wayside, it's too late for "Happy New Years." Actually the
resolutions are holding up pretty well so far. When I falter, I just
think of Dory in "Finding Nemo," "just keep training, just keep
training...."
| "Karate is My Secret" |

By Bart Scovill
“Karate is my secret” is an idea
that we constantly repeat and reinforce in Shuri-Ryu Karatedo.
It is largely believed to refer to the teaching of karate and
that karate techniques should be kept secret. However, I
believe it can more accurately be rephrased as “my karate
training is my secret.”...

| Gear Review (KD Elite 4 oz. MMA
Gloves) |
 |
|
These are outstanding gloves for the price. I use them as
bag gloves, and they fill that role admirably. The open thumb
and large opening on the palm allow the hand to stay cool
while training. The wrist strap wraps around several times
making them very secure. They are made of leather and seem
very well constructed. For the combination of price and
quality, I give them five kiai.

| TAO TEH CHING, Chapter 3 |
 |
|
BY not exalting the talented you will cause the people to
cease from rivalry and contention. By not prizing goods
hard to get, you will cause the people to cease from robbing
and stealing. By not displaying what is desirable, you will
cause the people's hearts to remain undisturbed.
Therefore, the Sage's way of governing begins by
- Emptying the heart of desires,
- Filling the belly with food,
- Weakening the ambitions,
- Toughening the bones.
In this way he will cause the people to remain without
knowledge and without desire, and prevent the knowing ones
from any ado. Practice Non-Ado, and everything will be in
order.
