Warrior Pages Newsletter A Home for Warriors
December 21, 2006

Greetings!

This is the last newsletter of the inaugural year. It's hard to believe the Warrior Pages has only been around since May. It's been a great experience, and I appreciate all the help and feedback we've received. Here's hoping you have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year.

in this issue
  • News and Notes
  • Tashi Price Videos
  • Book Review (Solo Training: The Martial Artist's Guide to Training Alone)

I've added two new videos from Sensei Baker's last seminar. I might have them all up by the next one.

Speaking of which, Sensei Baker's next seminar is January 27th. If you're in the area, or just want to see some January sunshine, you should check it out. Click the link below to learn more....

Book Review (Solo Training: The Martial Artist's Guide to Training Alone)

    By Loren Christensen

An excellent training guide. Chock full of suggestions, tips and drills. I can heartily recommend this book to assist in your training regimen no matter what you're training for. I've had this book over three years and I still get new material out of it. I do believe it could have been organized a little better, and that's the only reason it doesn't get five kiai. As it is, it's a very solid four.

    TAO TEH CHING, Chapter 46

WHEN the world is in possession of the Tao,
The galloping horses are led to fertilize the fields with their droppings.
When the world has become Taoless,
War horses breed themselves on the suburbs.

There is no calamity like not knowing what is enough.
There is no evil like covetousness.
Only he who knows what is enough will always have enough.

    News and Notes

As I seek to improve the Warrior Pages forum, I've been visiting others, and there's a lot of quality out there. One of my favorites, Martial Arts Cafe, has a joke thread. Here's a sample:

"What is a pig karateka's favorite attack?

    The pork chop"

This board is UK based, and full of much more than just jokes.

Another good one is Karate Cafe. This is from the same folks as the podcast. Not quite as lively as Martial Arts Cafe, but full of quality conversations.

Go ahead and visit these forums, but don't forget to bring it home. I'm not the jealous type, but to quote one of the members of these forums, "don't make me use my stuff on you baby."
